So you have set your goals and you are on your way to achieve them, but then you somehow get sidetracked and off course. Why does it feel like you constantly have to start all over again, again? Believe it or not you are probably doing this to yourself. We are constantly although sub-consciously sabotaging our own success. We do this for many reasons including a fear of success, not really knowing what we truly want, not having a strong enough reason to keep us working towards our goal, or thinking we don't deserve to get it. We fear success for a number of reasons. Sometimes it is just a plain old fashioned fear of change. We are comfortable living the way we do now, so we are not ready to make a change in our lives or how we live them. Being successful brings with it a whole new set of responsibilities that we will have to own up to. Successful people have to be great role models which brings even more pressure. Sometimes we set a goal that we don't even really want to achieve or we don't want it bad enough to do what it takes to achieve it. Our reason for wanting to reach our goal has to be strong enough to get us through the struggles we may encounter as we go about achieving it, otherwise we will quit at the first sign of adversity. Even when we want it bad enough and are willing to do everything it takes to achieve it, we may not truly believe we deserve it. So many of us have these limiting beliefs that we have been carrying around since childhood, that make us think rich and prosperous people are bad. We think that we will have to step on someone else's toes in order to achieve success. As long as you can identify that you are sabotaging the achievement of your goals, then you can find the reason for the sabotage and overcome it. You can begin by looking at the goal and making sure that you want it bad enough to overcome any adversity that will come your way. The reason you set the goal in the first place must be compelling enough to give you the drive to persevere. Now it is time to look at your limiting beliefs, do you really belief that you can achieve the goal? Do you truly feel that you deserve it? Once we establish where the problem lies, we can utilize such tools as affirmations and persistent and consistent action to stop the self-sabotage and achieve all of our goals.
